Job summary

The Track-Equipment Operators at San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) perform hands-on work operating high-rail vehicles and heavy equipment to support track maintenance across the system. They carry out rail, ties, joints and turnout tasks while ensuring safety and adherence to regulations.

With a strong mechanical aptitude and a commitment to reliability, incumbents will join a safety-sensitive crew, work varied hours including nights and weekends, and uphold BART’s safety

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
1 year verifiable track maintenance experience; six months on heavy equipment preferred.
Must obtain Class A permit within 60 days and Class A license within 120 days.

Responsibilities

Operate high-rail vehicles, trucks, cranes, and maintenance equipment.
Support track crews with removal and replacement of rails, ties, joints, switches and turnouts.
Maintain clean, safe work sites and report maintenance needs to Foreworker.
Read diagrams and specifications to determine measurements.
Comply with safety rules and roadway worker protection requirements.
