Hourly Pay Rate: $22.00 - $23.00
DescriptionThe Track Laborer position involves safely inspecting, repairing, and maintaining railroad track infrastructure to ensure safe and efficient service. It is a manual labor role requiring proficiency in various skills, duties, and requirements during a training period.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Inspect, load, unload, and install track materials such as cross ties, switch ties, and ballast.
- Inspect, grind, and transpose rails.
- Maintain and repair turnouts, construct and surface tracks, and handle road crossings.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair bridges, culverts, tunnels, and station facilities.
- Operate scales, fences, signs, and perform vegetation control.
- Remove debris, snow, and foreign materials from tracks.
- Report accurately and timely, interpret safety and operational documents.
- Communicate professionally, understand track authority, and adhere to safety policies.
- Respond to emergencies promptly and perform other assigned duties.
Education and Experience- High school diploma or GED, or 3-6 months related experience, or equivalent.
- Must be 18 or older.
Certificates and Licenses- Valid driver's license with no restrictions.
- Ability to pass required safety and operational tests and certifications.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Ability to understand and follow instructions, perform heavy lifting, work outdoors in varying weather, and recognize problems.
- Knowledge of Roadway Protection Rules and railroad operations.
