Job Description

Position Summary: A coach/sponsor will mentor, guide, and support students in their athletic or extracurricular pursuits by fostering personal growth, teamwork, and skill development.

Essential Functions

• Provide supervision of students during all aspects of the program
• Develop training programs, provide instruction and feedback
• Foster team cohesion
• Plan competitions and contests, including out of season activities
• Collaborate with school administration
• Ensure compliance with regulations
• Promote sportsmanship and character development in an encouraging and inclusive environment
• Proactively communicate schedules and information to parents and administration
• Adhere to the standards of conduct outlined in District Form 5002 Code of Conduct for Coaches, Sponsors, and Chaperones

Essential Skills and Abilities

• Possess knowledge and experience in the sport or activity
• Have leadership skills and set an example for players
• Effective communication skills to inspire and work with players on improvement
• Availability to work nights, holidays, evenings, weekends, adverse weather, and willing to travel for competitions
• (Head Coaches) Provide off‑season training and practice following MSHSAA guidelines

Basic Requirements

• Clean criminal, child abuse, and neglect records check
• High school graduate, at least two years prior
