Overview

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is seeking a Maintenance Specialist I to assist with park operations, maintenance, and resource management at Brazos Bend State Park. This entry-level position involves performing building and grounds maintenance, operating equipment, and providing excellent customer service to visitors.

Key Responsibilities

1. Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on facilities, equipment, and grounds.
2. Operate various equipment including mowers, trimmers, tractors, and power tools.
3. Assist with resource management and interpretive programs.
4. Provide information and assistance to park visitors.
5. Ensure safety and compliance with all agency rules and regulations.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Completion of 8th grade.
• At least one year of experience in grounds, facilities, or equipment maintenance.
• Valid class "C" Texas driver’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with the public, knowledge of facility and grounds maintenance, and proficiency in MS Office applications.

Additional Information

This position may fluctuate between full-time and part-time hours based on operational needs. Candidates must be able to perform manual labor, work outdoors in various weather conditions, and operate state vehicles. Travel up to 5% may be required.
