TPWD MISSION

To manage and conserve the natural and cultural resources of Texas and to provide hunting, fishing, and outdoor recreation opportunities for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Seeking an Office Manager passionate about customer service and administrative leadership to oversee operations at a 7,400-acre state park. Responsibilities include disseminating information, managing personnel, handling budgets, purchasing, and supervising staff. Works under limited supervision with significant autonomy.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  1. Administrative Support (20%): Prepare and distribute correspondence, reports, and forms; respond to inquiries; conduct administrative reviews; operate email systems; coordinate meetings and presentations.
  2. Purchasing, Budgeting (40%): Assist with budget data; monitor expenditures; maintain revenue and procurement records; ensure fiscal policies are followed.
  3. Supervisory Duties (25%): Supervise staff performance; assist with hiring and onboarding; monitor timesheets and leave reports; coordinate access and equipment for new/separating employees.
  4. Other Duties (10%): Provide customer service; perform additional assigned tasks; adhere to rules and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED; three years of administrative support experience; experience with filing, data editing, and report preparation; supervisory experience; valid driver’s license.

SUBSTITUTIONS AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Up to two years of college coursework in management or related fields may substitute for experience; four years of administrative support; supervisory experience; customer service; knowledge of financial and budget management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of office practices, procurement, HR, and Texas purchasing rules; proficiency in Microsoft Office, virtual meeting platforms, and Adobe; skills in training, budget management, and technical guidance; effective communication; ability to handle emergencies and evaluate systems.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Standard 8-hour workday, with possible overtime, travel, and operating a state vehicle. Dress and safety standards apply. Non-smoking policy enforced.
