Tower Technician Level 2
Alamon, Inc. seeks a Tower Technician Level 2 for its Wireless Service department. The role involves installation, maintenance, and repair of wireless equipment, requiring a solid understanding of wireless technologies, advanced troubleshooting skills, and at least one year of experience as a Wireless Tower Technician. The candidate must be NWSA certified and have experience with Verizon, AT&T, Tower, and Small Cell.
Job Description
- Lead and participate in the installation, integration, and testing of wireless equipment.
- Work with DC power, coax, fiber optic cabling, radios, antennas, and power systems.
- Ensure all safety and quality control requirements for crew and site are met.
- Safely ascend and descend towers and structures using safety harnesses, lanyards, and other fall protection.
- Oversee proper grounding, weatherproofing, and alignment of equipment installations.
- Assist in upgrading and replacing outdated equipment to improve network performance.
- Perform advanced signal strength testing, line sweeps, and power measurements to optimize performance.
- Implement and follow job instructions provided by leadership.
- Maintain vehicles and equipment in operational condition at all times.
- Keep a detailed log documenting all activities, including installations, testing, and maintenance procedures.
- Maintain compliance with all industry regulations, safety standards, and compliance requirements.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Minimum Position Qualifications
- Pass the pre‑employment screening process, which includes a background check, drug test, and motor vehicle records pull.
- Be physically capable of working outdoors, in a demanding environment and all‑weather conditions, and be able to lift or move up to 50 lbs.
- Possess a current and valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; no DUI or DWI in the past 5 years.
- Be available to work nights and weekends as required by project demands.
- Willing to travel locally, statewide, or regionally as required.
Work Environment
- Work outdoors year‑round, in all weather conditions and on varying terrain.
- Exposure to dust, odors, gases, vapors, wet or slick surfaces, and loud noises is possible.
- Must be comfortable working at heights and always wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in compliance with company standards and regulations.
Physical Demands
- Work outside in varying weather conditions and exposure to the elements.
- Lift and carry a minimum of 75 lbs.
- Be comfortable at heights of 1000 ft or more.
- Work either day or night shifts when necessary.
Travel Requirements
- Occasional travel based on project needs.
- Transportation and lodging are provided while traveling and working out of town for the company.
Education and Experience
- Trade school or equivalent experience.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- At least 1 year of tower‑related experience or experience as a Wireless Technician.
- Experience working with T‑Mobile, Verizon, and/or AT&T networks.
- Intermediate Microsoft Windows and Office skills.
- Familiarity with tools such as Putty, SecureCRT, WinSCP, and CMD.
- Comfortable working with DC power systems, batteries, and DC electrical wiring.
- Experience with call testing and capturing customer test requirements.
- Familiar with PPC, CommScope, and RFS coax connectors.
- Attainment of mobile elevated work platform, tower climbing, and rigging certifications.
- NWSA TTT 1 or 2 certification.
