Job Description:
The Tower Technician will work on a 4-person crew, climbing and working on telecommunications towers installing, replacing, repairing, and/or decommissioning, line and antenna systems for Telecommunications Carriers.
Basic Requirements:
o High school diploma, general education degree (GED) or equivalent skills and experience.
o Minimum of 2 years' experience working on a tower crew doing Line and Antenna installations/maintenance/decom.
o Ability to read, comprehend and carry out instructions per Construction Drawings and RFDS.
o Knowledge of safety standards and regulations. General fall protection safety knowledge and ability to utilize always tie off techniques.
o Basic rigging skills
o Knowledge and experience in use and care of basic hand and power tools.
o Must have a valid driver’s license and driving record meeting the company policy conditions.
o Basic computer skills and experience using phone applications for work related tasks.
Certifications Required:
o OSHA 10 or 30
o Authorized/Competent Climber
o Authorized/Competent Rigger
o First-Aid/CPR & AED with Blood Borne Pathogen
o RF Safety
o NWSA Certification TTT I, is a plus
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
o Executing line and antenna installation, replacement and decommissioning scopes of work for wireless carriers.
o Assisting in new tower construction using helicopters, cranes and gin poles.
o Assists in the installation of all aspects of cell site foundations, grounding, and conduits, with electrical installations where applicable.
o Climbing tall structures, 100' or more, with a 50 lb load.
o Use of hand tools specific to the installation of antennas, radios and related equipment.
o Tower rigging of all types in compliance with company and industry safety standards.
o Performing site testing (PIM, Sweeps, Fiber).
o Assisting in troubleshooting radios, antennas and related equipment.
o Maintaining a clean, safe and organized work environment.
o Strong communication skills and follows instructions accurately.
o Works with professionalism always and in all environments.
o Understanding and following the company's Health Safety and Environmental Policies. (Safety Manual).
o Understanding and following Industry standards (OSHA, TIA10-48, NATE CTS and ANSI)
o Other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
o Must be available to work weekends and/or nights, in extreme weather conditions if necessary.
o Must have the ability and be willing to travel extensively, as required for job related functions.
o Must be able to work out of the market or away from home as work demands.
