Job summary

Bluewave Communications, Inc. is seeking a Tower Technician to build and maintain cell towers and related wireless infrastructure across assigned territories.

You will support foremen on site, perform grounding, antennas, fiber, RF testing, and ensure quality and safety on every job. Ideal candidates have 2+ years of tower construction experience (or 1+ year with TTT-I/II certification), ability to read blueprints, and knowledge of test equipment and PIM/Fiber.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years tower construction experience, or 1+ year with TTT-I/II certification.
  • Able to read blueprints, details, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of test equipment, sweep, PIM & fiber; certification in each.
  • Complete BCI Tower and Safety Training.
  • Experience installing/integrating major carriers is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain cell towers, small cells, and wireless structures.
  • Support foreman and TTT-III on site.
  • Site tasks include grounding, antenna installation, coax, RF jumpers, fiber, and testing.
  • Plan and coordinate to complete work timely and efficiently.
  • Identify punch list items and ensure completion before customer inspection.
  • Enforce safety practices; stop unsafe work immediately.
  • Overtime required, including weekends and evenings.
  • Complete Tower training classes and other assigned duties.

Position Details

This position requires that the employee must excel in safely performing tasks on telecommunications sites and is capable of supervision of TTT-1 and ground labor. Strong technical abilities to be the right hand to the Tower Foreman and/or Tower Tech. III.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the build and maintenance of cell towers, small cells, and other wireless equipment and structures across the assigned territory.
  • Must provide support to the foreman, top hand, and or TTT-III employees on site.
  • On site responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    • Grounding
    • Installation of antennas
    • Antenna mounts, microwaves, coax lines, TMA's, RF Jumpers, remote electrical down-tilts / Bias-T's, Remote radio heads
    • Fiber / DC Hybrid cables
    • Sweep and PIM testing
    • Site audits and maintenance tasks
    • Troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance
  • Complete work in a timely and efficient manner by planning, prioritizing, and coordination with supervisors
  • Assist in Identify construction "punch list" of items to be remedied and ensure they are completed prior to customer’s inspection.
  • Ensure tasks assigned are completed in timely, quality manner.
  • May maintain and enforce all BCI and OSHA safety practices, perform daily jobsite safety inspections on equipment prior to operation. Immediately stops work when unsafe work practices or conditions exist.
  • Must be able to work overtime to include Saturdays, Sundays, and evening hours.
  • Must be able to satisfactorily complete all aspects of BCI's Tower training classes.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education And/or Experience
  • High School or GED required.
  • 2+ years tower construction background required, Or 1+ years tower tech. with TTT-I or II. Certification, both written and practical.
  • Able to read blueprints, details, and specifications.
  • Cad-weld or other thermo-weld training helpful.
  • Has demonstrated knowledge of Test Equipment, Sweep, PIM & Fiber, and Certification in each.
  • Has demonstrated knowledge of standard knots, Pass N.A.T.E. Tower Climbers Exam.
  • Successfully complete BCI Tower and Safety Training.
  • Not required but experience installing and integrating T-Mobile, AT & T, Verizon, Dish, and Sprint is a plus.
Language Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Bi-Lingual (Spanish) is a plus.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Valid Drivers License required.
  • Must be able to meet BCI MVR criteria with approved driver status.
