Job descriptionTOWER FOREMAN
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ability to review CDs/scope and identify/document any out-of-scope items.
• Inspecting work performed by team members for accuracy and quality.
• Conduct/document daily tail gate meetings
• Be organized and maintain good communication with CM’s
• Manage the safety and performance of a crew consisting of 2-4 Tower Technicians
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and ability to pass a DOT exam
• 8+ years of climbing and tower work experience
• Competent with test gear (Anritsu, ODM, and PIM)
• Industry knowledge of proper procedures regarding microwave installations.
• Microwave dish path alignment, waveguide testing and troubleshooting (desirable), as well as fabrication skills.
• Use of Power Meter, Frequency Counter, Spectrum Analyzer and Digital Voltmeter.
• Understanding of TDM and Ethernet structural characteristics.
• Understanding of DC power.
• Ability to operate capstan hoist and good understanding of rigging practices as it relates to the tower industry
• Competent in all aspects of line and antenna system installation, replacement, and maintenance
• Knowledge of UMTS, 4G(LTE) and 5G
• Trouble shoots Alarms / RSSI issues at sites using supplied sweep gear
TOWER TECHNICIANS II & III
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
• This role supports the Tower team in the installation, maintenance, and de-installation of all aspects of wireless cell sites.
• Climbing towers and ladders of various heights
• Maintaining, repairing, and occasionally installing various cell tower types.
• Construction, troubleshooting, calibration, testing, and maintenance of telecommunications equipment.
• Maintain proper installation, troubleshooting, and repair techniques
• Performing additional maintenance or upgrades on out-of-season equipment.
• Conducting performance checks and regular maintenance.
• Working with a crew and responding to service calls promptly.
• Complete assigned tasks within project scope accurately and efficiently
• Participate in and carry out installation, repair, modification, optimization, or acceptance test procedures of wireless infrastructures and electrical equipment
• Follow all Company, local, industry and federal safety regulations and requirements.
• Ability to travel for multiple days with Per Diem
QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS
• Previous telecommunications tower experience
• Comfortable in both climbing and heights
• Knowledge of electronic, mechanical, and electrical components
• Must be able/willing to comply with all safety procedures and protective gear.
• Skilled in the use of Hand / Power tools
• Able to operate a computer or tablet
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings (a plus)
• Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (if driving a Company Vehicle) and be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
• High level of organization and scheduling abilities
• Desire to succeed and learn new skills.
• Effective interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Commitment to excellence and high standards.
• Ability to work well as a member of a field crew.
• Acute attention to detail and construction quality
• Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
• Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
• Preference is given to those candidates able to be on call and travel for work.
