Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Two years of experience operating special purpose vehicles and equipment.
• Knowledge of traffic rules and regulations.
• Ability to perform minor mechanical repairs on equipment.

Responsibilities

• Transport broken down, improperly parked, impounded, or otherwise indisposed vehicles.
• Load and unload vehicles or items from the tow truck.
• Use specialized equipment to recover vehicles (snatch blocks, skates, etc.).
• Move vehicles within impound lots.
• Complete pre/post trip inspections and related paperwork.
• Communicate with dispatch via assigned radio.
• Coordinate with Detroit Police Department Officers at the scene.
