Job summary

Playwright Co. seeks an experienced Stage Manager for touring productions. You will maintain the director’s vision, oversee rehearsals and blocking, run technical rehearsals, and manage daily call times and schedules across multiple venues.

You will develop calling scripts, cue decks for lighting and sound, and prepare detailed rehearsal and show reports. Flexibility to travel and work nights, weekends, and holidays is essential.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years stage management experience, including tour exposure.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with coworkers and venue personnel.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities; able to multi-task.
• Poise and control under pressure in dynamic environments.
• Willingness to travel and work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must adapt to varying buildings and local conditions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the artistic integrity of the production according to the director’s vision.
• Manage rehearsal process pre- and post-opening (understudies, replacements, brush-ups) and maintain blocking and technical docs.
• Manage and run technical rehearsals.
• Manage daily rehearsal and performance call times and schedules, both pre- and post-opening.
• Develop a calling script and call all show cues (deck, lighting, audio).
• Complete rehearsal and show reports.
• Implement notes from rehearsals and performances.
