About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Total Rewards Manager to join our dynamic team. The Total Rewards Manager will play a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and managing our compensation and benefits programs. This role will be responsible for designing and executing strategies to attract, retain, and motivate employees while ensuring alignment with our organizational objectives.

We offer a dynamic hybrid work environment, combining the flexibility of remote work with the collaborative energy of in-person interaction. While we value flexibility, this role requires in-office presence three days a week to foster teamwork, innovation, and connection. Our commitment to both remote and in-person work ensures a balance between autonomy and collaboration, allowing our team members to thrive in a supportive and engaging environment.

This role is based in our Redwood City, CA office and has a hybrid schedule of 3 days per week in the office.

You will…

  • Develop and execute comprehensive total rewards strategies that align with the company's business goals and objectives.
  • Design, implement and administer competitive compensation and benefits programs, including base pay, incentives, equity plans, and health and welfare benefits.
  • Lead the development and management of an effective employee recognition program to foster a culture of appreciation and engagement.
  • Conduct regular market analysis and benchmarking to ensure Carbon’s compensation and benefits packages remain competitive and in line with industry standards.
  • Partner with People Business Partners, finance, and other stakeholders to provide guidance and recommendations on compensation-related matters, including job evaluations, salary structures, and pay equity.
  • Lead annual salary review processes, merit increase cycles, and bonus programs, ensuring fairness and consistency across the organization.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, brokers, and consultants to optimize the effectiveness and cost-efficiency of our benefits programs.
  • Stay abreast of legislative and regulatory changes related to compensation and benefits, and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Analyze employee data and metrics to assess the effectiveness of our total rewards programs and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on compensation-related inquiries and issues.
  • Develop and deliver engaging and informative training sessions to educate employees and managers on our total rewards programs.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in compensation, benefits, or total rewards management, preferably in a fast-paced, start-up environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of compensation and benefits principles, practices, and trends, including familiarity with job evaluation methodologies, salary structures, incentive plans, and benefits design.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, draw insights, and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and integrity.
  • Proven project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) designation preferred.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and compensation software/tools.

At Carbon, we look at the person holistically and carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining salary. The Bay Area, CA compensation bracket for this position is $132,800 - $199,200 per year. In order to maintain equitable internal pay practices, we aim to hire new employees near the midpoint of $166,00, taking into account your experience, work location, certifications, and the unique skills you bring to the role.
