Position TOSA Behavior Specialist FTE 0.40 Location Oltman MIddle School Compensation BA/00 starting salary is $52,679/year,

MA/00 starting salary is $61,898/year,

Salary schedule based on Teacher contract, previous teaching experience and education. Anticipated Start Date Fall 2025 (August 18, 2025) License Requirement Current Minnesota License

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide assistance to students and staff to help students function effectively in the school environment. Provide guidance and support in programming and development for students with self-regulation needs.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide consultation to building student support teams and administration.
  • Support all students in the area of social, emotional and behavioral issues.
  • Maintain student files and required district paperwork as it relates to individual student needs.
  • Maintain data collection on support services provided to students as well as recordkeeping for restraint and seclusion.
  • Assist in designing and shaping behavioral interventions for both students and staff.
  • Provide staff development for district staff as it relates to this position.
  • Train staff on Minnesota requirements involving Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP)
  • Knowledge, awareness and training of Minnesota Statutes as it relates to behavior and restrictive procedures.
  • Facilitate meetings that may frequently involve a range of issues for the purpose of evaluating situations, identifying appropriate actions, developing recommendations and/or implementing desired program changes.
  • Manage assigned programs and/or services for the purpose of achieving outcomes in relation to program objectives, and ensuring conformance with legal, financial and district requirements.
  • Participate in a variety of meetings as required (e.g. workshops, inter and intra district committees, community and public agencies, seminars, conferences, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and gathering information regarding a wide variety of subjects required to carry out their coordination responsibilities.
  • Share resources and agency information with staff and families.
  • Act as school liaison with parent/family including home visits.
  • Assist with district program planning and projects for students with disabilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, LICENSE, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):

Required:

  • Current Minnesota licensure in special education or related area appropriate to student level and program.
  • Experience working with students with challenging behaviors.
  • Ability to travel between sites as needed.
  • In depth knowledge of Minnesota State Statutes as it relates to behavior.
  • Competency in designing and implementing positive behavioral interventions and support.
  • Prompt, regular and reliable attendance.
  • Ability to utilize technology to support daily job functions.
  • Communicates with students, parents, co-workers, supervisors, and the community in a positive and responsive way that is consistently welcoming and enhances effective work relationships.
  • Demonstrates an appreciation of diversity in all interactions and job functions.
