Job summary

OPD, a Koch Engineered Solutions company, seeks a Torque Technician at the Baytown, TX site to perform bolting and joint integrity services using calibrated torque tools. The role emphasizes safety, precise torque, and proper flange installation in outdoor environments.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of torque experience, gas plant construction exposure, and a proven safety leadership track. You will join a team delivering critical field services across the United States.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience as a Torque Technician.
• Must operate calibrated tools, including torque wrenches and pneumatic and hydraulic torquing equipment.
• Able to identify and use all tools and equipment necessary to perform assigned work.
• Able to bolt up flanges using correct materials as indicated on the BOM.

The job site located in Baytown, TX has an opening for a Torque Technician.

What You Will Do

• Torque Tech is responsible for executing technical bolting and joint integrity services in accordance with approved site and company procedures.
• Must know how to operate calibrated tools, including torque wrenches and pneumatic and hydraulic torquing equipment. Must be able to calibrate pneumatic and hydraulic torquing equipment to the desired torque and pressure.
• Able to identify and use all tools and equipment necessary to perform assigned work.
• Able to properly bolt up flanges using correct materials as indicated on the BOM.
• Able to identify when a flange connection is not properly installed, hi/lo, wrong gasket, or bolts.

Some physical demands of being a Torque Technician

• Able to work in outdoor weather and environmental conditions, including extreme heat and humidity, extreme cold, and high elevations.
• Lifting and carrying awkward objects up to 60 lbs
• Standing for extended periods of time up to 11 hours per day.
• Moving the entire body. Considerable use of arms, legs, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, crawling, twisting, reaching, and bending on a regular basis.
• Must be able to work on elevated platforms and maintain balance when stepping on narrow platforms such as beams and pipes. Must be able to perform these activities while wearing an approved full-body harness and lanyard.
• Use hands to handle, control, and feel objects and/or tools.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• At least 2 years of experience as a Torque Technician

What Will Put You Ahead

• Previous experience in a gas plant construction environment
• 2 years of experience as a Torque Technician
• Previous experience being a leader for safety
• Familiar with welding basics
