Job summary

M-D Building Products, Inc. is seeking a packaging operator to set up, operate, and maintain its packaging equipment on the first shift in Oklahoma City.

The role requires mechanical aptitude, the ability to read a tape measure, and the stamina to stand 10+ hours while lifting up to 100 lbs. You will load film, thread through equipment, monitor performance, verify production tickets, and follow PPE protocols in a non-air-conditioned, concrete-floored facility with a safety-first culture.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 1+ year of manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Basic math skills: read a tape measure and convert fractions to decimals
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to stand for 10+ hours and lift up to 100 lbs as required
  • Familiarity with open cell, closed cell, sponge rubber, and felt materials is a plus
  • Must be detail-oriented with strong hand-eye coordination
  • Fast-paced production floor with moderate to high noise levels (hearing protection provided)
  • Non-air-conditioned environment with concrete flooring
  • Safety-first culture with provided personal protective equipment (PPE)

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and maintain packaging equipment, including the MD automatic foam tape feeder, Tornado packager, and Combi case packer.
  • Load film rolls (up to 75 lbs), thread film through equipment, set electric eye sensors, and adjust heat sealing elements to ensure proper packaging.
  • Perform equipment adjustments, minor repairs, and routine preventive maintenance.
  • Monitor machine performance and product quality, making necessary adjustments to ensure efficiency and compliance with production standards.
  • Ensure proper loading, orientation, and product count in cartons; operate palletizing equipment as needed.
  • Complete and verify production tickets and maintain accurate production records.
  • Follow all safety protocols, including machine interlock checks and the use of required PPE.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and properly dispose of scrap materials.
  • Support team operations and assist with other machines or roles as needed.

  • First Shift: Monday through Thursday, 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM
