Topographic, Inc. is seeking a Construction Surveying Instrument Technician to join a full-time field crew. The role focuses on controlling surveying instruments and performing calculations in support of control, topographic, and boundary surveys at assigned worksites.

The position requires working in the field with a two- or three-person crew, with standard hours Mon-Sat 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, travel to worksites, and compliance with safety policies. Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Qualifications

  • Must be experienced in controlling the function of surveying instruments and calculators.
  • Read and understand plans and specifications.
  • Know basic sources of measurement errors.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Travel to worksites may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Cut and remove brush and undergrowth for line-of-sight.
  • Performs mathematical calculations and field checking of field data.
  • Read and understand plans and specifications.
  • Know basic sources of measurement errors.
  • Dig ground using a pick, shovel, and other hand tools to search for and locate survey monuments.
  • Hold and plum rod in obtaining elevations and distances.
  • Drive stakes to set grades on construction projects.
  • Know, understand, and demonstrate safe working/operating methods of assigned tools and equipment.
