Job summary

T1 Energy Inc. is hiring a Cell Metallization Process Engineer for its G2 solar cell fab in Rockdale, Texas. You will own the metallization process, optimize paste chemistry, firing, and laser-related steps to achieve high-efficiency TOPCon devices at scale.

You will develop DOEs, calibrate “golden cells,” and coordinate with upstream/downstream teams to integrate metallization with thermal treatments and QA/QC. 3+ years in solar cell metallization is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering or science field.
  • 3+ years of process engineering in solar cell manufacturing.
  • Expertise in screen printing, firing, and paste chemistry for solar cells.
  • Experience with DOE, SPC, and data analysis for process optimization.
  • Familiarity with TOPCon or related cell architectures (PERC/HJT/IBC).

Responsibilities

  • Own SPC for metallization including process excursions affecting Voc, Isc, FF, EL/PL.
  • Maintain documentation on screen printing parameters and run DOEs.
  • Oversee ramp-up of the screen printing module and testing/sorting module for efficiency grading.
  • Develop front and rear contact metallization processes focusing on furnace profiles and paste rheology.
  • Collaborate with thermal diffusion, deposition, and quality teams to optimize interfacial parameters.
  • Drive DOE execution across paste formulation, mesh/emulsion, squeegee dynamics, and firing.
  • Qualify new paste materials and screen suppliers; evaluate next-generation metallization solutions.
  • Partner with equipment engineering to troubleshoot yield losses and process excursions.
  • Support technology transfer and scale-up as G2 ramps to full production.
