Job summary

Base-2 Solutions is seeking a Data Scientist Level 2 to support the VISTA (MT&E Team). This role develops machine learning, data mining, statistical, and graph-based algorithms to analyze complex datasets and build scalable analytics integrated into production.

You will partner with SMEs, software engineers, and cloud developers to translate mission needs into analytic solutions and support data-driven decision making in critical environments.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph.
• Proficiency in Python and R for data manipulation, analysis, and algorithm implementation.
• Strong foundation in statistics and probability, including regression analysis and hypothesis testing.
• Knowledge of ML algorithms and frameworks, such as TensorFlow and Scikit-Learn.
• Data wrangling with complex datasets; SQL and database management (PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau and Matplotlib.
• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline; 5 years analytics experience.
• 5 years programming with data analysis software (R, Python, SAS, MATLAB).

Responsibilities

• Produce data visualizations that reveal dataset structure and meaning.
• Identify information in raw data with SMEs and develop extraction scripts.
• Create feature vectors from SME input for analytic development.
• Translate qualitative goals into quantitative software models.
• Develop and implement statistical and ML techniques for descriptive and predictive analytics.
• Design experiments to collect data or generate surrogate data when needed.
• Identify appropriate algorithms and tune model parameters.
• Evaluate analytics using cross-validation, ROC curves, and confusion matrices.
• Guide analytic development toward scalable production-ready solutions.
• Collaborate with software engineers and cloud developers on production analytics.
