Job summary

SMX is seeking a Journeyman level SOC Analyst to support our NAWCAD customer onsite at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. This role emphasizes detection, alerting, and analysis of intrusions with hands-on management of SIEMs and defense tools.

Required TS clearance, 3-5 years' experience, and DoD-8140 compliance. The position offers a structured government contractor environment with competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• Clearance required: Top Secret.
• 3-5 years of applicable work experience.
• CompTIA Network+ certification.
• Operating system certifications.
• One or more of GCIA, GCIH, GCDA, GSOC, GCED, CYSA or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely detection and alerting of attacks and anomalies.
• Operate and manage SIEMs, firewalls, IDS/IPS and related tools.
• Analyze malicious activity and determine exploitation methods.
• Coordinate with cyber defense staff and validate network alerts.
• Prepare daily summaries of network events and activities.
• Support RMF/CONMON and secure network designs from inception to production.
