Job summary

Martin Sprocket & Gear is seeking a Tooth Forming Machine Operator for the 2nd shift in Paragould, AR. You will set up and operate a range of manual and automated equipment including drills, lathes, grinders, welding and paint booths, following process sheets and blueprints.

You must read and follow English instructions, lift heavy items, and work safely in a non-climate-controlled shop. Shift is Monday through Friday, 2:00 pm–10:00 pm, with a 6% shift premium on hourly wage.

Qualifications

• Requires average math skills and basic English communication; able to read and comprehend English instructions and complete logs/reports.
• Physically able to lift, push, pull and position heavy items.
• Must be able to stand for full shifts and work in a non-climate-controlled shop.

Responsibilities

• Set up operation of manual and automated equipment (drills, lathes, grinders, welders, oxy/fuel, forklifts, saws, paint booth).
• Operate, adjust and tend machines to process components.
• Install dies, punches, blades or fixtures for safe machine operation.
• Maintain clean, safe work area and check tolerances.
• Schedule 2nd Shift 2:00 pm – 10:00 pm Monday - Friday.

What will you do?

In this role, you will set up an operation of manual and automated equipment, including drills, lathes grinders/finishers, welding, oxy/fuel, forklifts, saws, and paint booth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work from process sheets, blueprints, or other written/verbal instructions given by the supervisor to perform production tasks.
• Maneuver large, awkward, or heavy parts manually or with a crane.
• Setup, operate, and tend machines used to process components.
• Install align and lock dies, punches, blades, or other machine fixtures to ensure safe operation of the machine.
• Maintain machine and work area in a clean and safe manner.
• Check and inspect operation against predetermined tolerances.
• Work safely and wear all required PPE for the duration of the shift.
• W ork in other areas or departments as assigned.
• Schedule 2nd Shift 2:00 pm – 10:00 pm Monday - Friday

• Requires average math skills, simple oral communication skills; ability to read and comprehend instructions written in English and complete simple logs and reports in English
• Must be physically able to handle heavy items including lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning components
• Must be able to work scheduled hours and comply with the company’s timekeeping policy and all other company policies
• Must be able to consistently stand for an entire shift
• Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled shop environment
• Knowledge of basic machining practices and materials is a plus, as is general mechanical knowledge
