Job Description

Position Objective:

To build or repair all types, sizes and shapes of jigs, fixtures, tools, and dies. Assemble and try out complex tools and dies on manufacturing equipment.

Essential Functions:

  1. Reads and interprets blueprints or works from verbal or written instructions or from the part to be copied or fitted.
  2. Plans the setup and operation of all types of machine shop tools, considering types of material, tolerances, types of cutting tools, coolants, lubricants, and machine tool feeds and speeds.
  3. Heat treats and welds parts as required.
  4. Determines specifications for inspection of work, using precision measuring and gauging tools, performing required inspection before, during and after machining.
  5. Performs hand operations involved in producing jigs, fixtures, tools, and dies. Uses hand tools of the trade.
  6. Fits and assembles jigs, fixtures, tools, and other dies.
  7. Assist in training of Apprentice Toolmakers.
  8. May assist Machinists and Production Toolmakers in transfer press work.
  9. May work with product designers providing input to manufacturing capability on newly formed products.
  10. Follow safety protocols and maintain clean and organized work area.
  11. Perform all other duties as assigned or directed.

Qualifications

  1. Experience with CNC mill, wire, sinker, lathe required.
  2. Ability to lift approximately 40-60 pounds on a regular basis.
  3. High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experience.
  4. Journeyman status preferred.

Compensation Information:

$35.00 - $46.00
