Job summary

Altium Packaging in Sparta, TN seeks an experienced Toolmaker to disassemble, assess, repair and reassemble blow and injection molding tooling. You will read blueprints, verify parts with precision gauges, and perform milling, turning, welding, grinding, and polishing as needed.

The role requires 5+ years in Tool & Die or related field, HS Diploma/GED, and preferred trade certificate. The job supports overtime to meet business demands with a focus on safe, efficient maintenance.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or GED required; 5+ years in Tool & Die or related field.
  • Technical Certificate from Trade School preferred.
  • Proficiency with precision measurement tools.

Responsibilities

  • Disassemble, assess, repair and assemble molding tooling.
  • Troubleshoot tooling issues based on production feedback.
  • Read blueprints and verify parts with precision gauges.
  • Perform milling, turning, welding, grinding as needed.
  • Lead small tool projects and preventative maintenance.

Location Address:600 Vista Drive, Sparta, Tennessee 38583Work Shift:8hr-2nd Shift 2p-10:30p Sparta (United States of America)A Toolmaker is responsible for the disassembly, assessment, repair, and assembly of Blow and Injection Molding tooling to ensure optimal production performance.Essential FunctionsSafely operate all machinery, hand tools, and equipment.Resolve tooling issues based upon production feedback.Participate in tooling repairs and communicate all issues to senior staff.Perform specialty operations as requested by senior staff (milling, turning, welding, grinding, polishing, etc.).Electronically document all work performed for every mold.Read blueprints and utilize precision measurement devices (height gauges, bore gauges, micrometers, sine plates, gauge blocks, etc.) to verify components meet print specifications.Repair or request replacement parts as needed to maintain adequate inventory levels.Aid production in troubleshooting tool and machine issues on the floor as requested by senior staff.Use handheld tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, hammers, socket sets, power tools, etc.Take the lead on individual tool projects and preventative maintenance projects.Keep work areas clean and organized to maintain a safe work environment.Ability to work overtime or fill absences as needed based on the needs of the business.Follow all safety requirements.Reasonable mandatory overtime may be required due to business needs.QualificationsHS Diploma/GED5+ years’ experience in Tool & Die or related field.Technical Certificate from Trade School preferred.Proficiency with precision measurement tools.Experience operating Tool & Die machinery: lathes, mills, grinders, welders, etc.Overhead Crane/rigging experience.Experience with hot runner injection and stretch blow molding preferred.Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration.
