Responsibilities

Join our growing team! Howmet Aerospace is now seeking to fill a Toolmaker position on our 2nd shift in Winsted, CT facility.

Salary

  • Shift differentials: 2nd shift/ $2.00
  • External hires are eligible for a $3,000 sign-on bonus.

Summary

As a Toolmaker, you will build, inspect, and maintain fixtures and gages to close tolerances (+1-.0002). Maintain product integrity and quality through gage inspections that require close tolerances of +/- .0002.

Essential Functions
  • Build and rework gages and fixtures.
  • Design changes on tooling fixtures.
  • Diagnose and correct fixture and gage problems.
  • Oversee acceptable tool design for tool room rework ability.
  • Perform machining and grinding of details.
  • Perform surveillance on gages and maintain certification.
  • Provide floor support.
  • Partner with engineering and the layout department.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Maintain certified toolmaker status.
  • Actively participate, promote, and comply with all EHS and Quality programs and policies.
  • Follow policies and procedures as outlined in Employee Handbook.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Education
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Two years technical college or trades school certification required.
Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge and ability to problem solve complex issues.
  • Familiarity with computer operations.
Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years tool making experience required.

  • Includes but is not limited to: Various inspection equipment such as height masters, indicators, micrometers, comparators. Various tool room equipment: surface grinders, Bridgeport, drill presses, etc.
  • Various tool room/inspection equipment.
EHS Requirements
  • Expected to assist in the implementation of EHS Values and policy statements and principles.
  • Comply with all department, facility, corporate, and regulatory EHS regulations.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Report all job-related illnesses and injuries (Per Employee Handbook).
  • Report all safety, health, and environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Attend all EHS training.
