Job summary

Tegra Medical, located in Franklin, MA, seeks a skilled machinist to analyze specifications, lay out stock, and set up and operate machine tools to fabricate and repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges and hand tools.

Role includes maintaining parts quality, verifying dimensions, and ensuring safety and efficiency. Requires a trade school/apprenticeship and at least five years of experience with ACAD or SolidWorks.

Qualifications

• Trade school graduate and/or formal apprenticeship with at least five years’ experience.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD (ACAD) or SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

• Study specifications and blueprints to determine materials and machines.
• Compute dimensions, plan layout, and determine assembly method.
• Measure and mark metal stock for machining.
• Set up and operate machine tools (lathes, milling, EDM, Swiss, grinder).
• Verify dimensions and tolerances of machined parts.
• Maintain equipment and follow preventative maintenance schedules.
• Heat treat tools or parts.
• Assess dies, tools, jigs, and fixtures and suggest design improvements.
• Develop specifications for specialty tools and designs.

Job Summary

Analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to fabricate and repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools by performing the following duties.

Role and Responsibilities

• Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts.
• Computes dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations.
• Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock for machining.
• Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machine, EDM, Swiss, and grinder, to machine parts; and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications.
• Smooth flat and contoured surfaces and power grinders, and fits and assembles parts together and into assemblies and mechanisms.
• Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances.
• Maintains plant equipment and follows established preventative maintenance schedules.
• Heat treats tools or parts.
• Examines standard or previously used dies, tools, and jigs and fixtures, and recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of part.
• Develops specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and draws or sketches design of product.
• Maintain knowledge of latest skills and innovations of the trade to accomplish function with optimum efficiency and minimum cost.
• Keep a clean, safe and orderly work area, and report only unusual operating difficulties to supervisor.
• Adhere to all prescribed safety rules, procedures and regulations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Connects hydraulic lines to install hydraulic components.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of ACAD or Solid Works .

Education Requirements

Trade school graduate and/or formal apprenticeship and at least five (5) years’ experience.

• Frequent performing repetitive work.
