Job summary

Automotive Manufacturing is seeking an experienced Tool & Die Maker to join a stable automotive production environment in Birmingham, AL. You will build, repair, and optimize stamping dies and production tooling to keep lines running smoothly.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in tool & die, with blueprints, GD&T, and precision measurement skills, plus experience with conventional tooling and troubleshooting. This full-time role offers competitive hourly pay, benefits, and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Tool & Die Maker experience, preferably in automotive manufacturing.
• Ability to read blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
• Experience with precision measurement equipment and tooling.
• Proficient with conventional tool-room machinery and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Build, assemble, repair, maintain, and modify stamping dies and tooling.
• Troubleshoot tooling issues and improve part quality and efficiency.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on dies and tooling.
• Disassemble, inspect, repair, and rebuild dies as needed.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, GD&T, and tooling specs.
• Use micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and indicators.
• Operate mills, lathes, grinders, drill presses, and related equipment.
• Fit, grind, machine, weld, and bench work as required.
• Support die tryouts, tooling modifications, and new tooling builds.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and Production teams.

Are you an experienced Tool & Die Maker looking for a stable opportunity with a respected automotive manufacturing operation?

Our client is looking for a skilled, hands-on Tool & Die Maker to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in their craftsmanship, enjoys solving complex tooling problems, and wants to play an important role in keeping automotive production running efficiently.

You’ll work with experienced manufacturing professionals and have the opportunity to utilize your skills in stamping dies, production tooling, machining, repair, modification, and troubleshooting.

What You'll Do

• Build, assemble, repair, maintain, and modify automotive stamping dies and production tooling.
• Troubleshoot tooling issues and make adjustments to improve part quality and production efficiency.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on dies and tooling.
• Disassemble, inspect, repair, and rebuild dies as needed.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, and tooling specifications.
• Use precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and indicators.
• Operate mills, lathes, surface grinders, drill presses, saws, and other tool-room equipment.
• Perform fitting, grinding, machining, welding, and bench work.
• Support die tryouts, tooling modifications, new tooling builds, and production launches.
• Work with Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and Production teams to identify and resolve tooling issues.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of Tool & Die Maker experience, preferably in automotive manufacturing.
• Strong experience with automotive stamping dies and production tooling.
• Ability to read blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
• Experience with precision measurement equipment.
• Experience operating conventional tool-room machinery.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions when troubleshooting tooling issues.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Preferred Experience

• CNC machining and/or EDM experience.
• Welding and fabrication skills.
• Experience with new model launches and tooling tryouts.
• Lean manufacturing or continuous-improvement experience.
