We specialize in offering cost-effective solutions for a wide variety of industries including industrial manufacturing, healthcare, and environmental cleanup applications. Scope of Role

Understand how to safely use all associated hand tools and manual machines. Assist in creating new tools, fixtures, test samples and assemblies from Tooling Engineer. Must be able to operate all types of machinery, including CNC machines, and have demonstrated proficiency in CAM (Master CAM preferred), software. Procure materials and tooling required. Possess abilities to troubleshoot and problem-solve on the fly, to keep manufacturing lines running.

Essential Duties

80% Constructs new jigs, fixtures and reworks old jigs, fixtures, and tooling – working from CAD models and drawings. Works with Tech Center Supervisor and Manufacturing Engineering to prioritize work and machine resources. Possess CAD-CAM capabilities to use engineering models for machining of complex 2D and some 3D machining. Creates assemblies, understands “fit and function”. Troubleshoots and repairs existing production tooling, gauges, fixtures, parts, and machinery parts.

20% Deals with drop-in “hot jobs” that need a quick fix, and alerts owners of those breakdowns that they may need to request new tooling. Requests new tools and special tools if needed to create complex tooling.

Measures of Performance
  • Toolroom requests are being met in a timely manner.
  • Meets all necessary requirements and stages of training at the appropriate times. Whether that is Master Cam or supervisory.
  • Future state competencies are continuing to develop, such as Master CAM, new machine tool technology, equipment, and software.
Education and Experience Requirements or Equivalencies
  • High School diploma
  • Two-year college degree and/or equivalent experience
  • Toolmaker / Journeyman Certification by the U.S. Department of Labor
  • Operate Toolroom equipment, machines, CNC machines, and CAM software.
  • Operate computer – MS Office, printer, copier, and other office equipment
  • At least five (5) to seven (7) years related experience.
Other Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated commitment to continuous quality improvement. Has the ability to work well in a team environment and think independently. Shows initiative, anticipates, and prevents problems, has mechanical aptitude, and mental/physical/visual acuity. Decision making, analytics, and interpersonal skills are all necessary. The Standard Toolmaker can operate computers, with proficiency in Master CAM software creating 2D toolpaths and has some knowledge of 3D tool‑pathing techniques. This person can fully operate all machine tools in the Tech Center, and possess the ability to interpret drawings, assemblies, and diagrams.
