Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Tooling Technician for a leading manufacturing company to ensure proper preparation of sand molds to meet customer casting drawings. The role focuses on tooling management, process development, and pattern work in No-Bake and Floor molding environments.

You will maintain tooling databases, review design changes for manufacturability, monitor production parameters, and pursue cost reductions through continuous improvement projects.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all company and customer owned tooling is properly managed & perform qualification measures of the equipment prior to production.
• Develop sample sand molding processes to validate castings achieve customer specifications.
• Repair wood patterns & ensure flasks are sized for No-Bake & Floor molding processes.
• Manage the outsourced pattern shops to ensure the parting line of castings, amount of draft to be allowed, metal shrinkage, & determine the riser and gating system configurations.
• Review and provide input on product and tool design changes to meet customer blueprints for manufacturability and cost effectiveness.
• Responsible for the routine maintenance and changes to existing sand tooling. Maintain tooling to optimize efficiency, ensure dimensional accuracy and coordinate necessary modifications as required.
• Review all manufacturing processes to ensure that daily production achieves quoted parameters, including scrap & re-work rates.
• Maintain active tooling database with details regarding production issues, maintenance performed, amount of scrap output, and general pattern conditions
• Understand properties & solidification of aluminum and brass, as well as various molding methods.
• Quotes, analyzes and manages any cost reductions and improvements in current production and continuous improvement projects
