Job summary

Summit Polymers is seeking a Commercial Apprentice (Tooling Technician) to support the production and maintenance of injection molding tooling. You will learn from experienced tooling technicians and develop the skills needed to become a tooling technician.

As an apprentice, you will assist in tooling maintenance, changeovers, and troubleshooting while adhering to safety protocols and quality standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment in Detroit, MI.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of tools.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Good attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Willingness to learn and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
• Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the maintenance and repair of injection molding tooling.
• Learn and understand different types of tooling and their functions.
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving tooling issues.
• Participate in tooling changeovers and setups.
• Perform preventative maintenance on tooling.
• Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work area.
• Communicate effectively with team members and management.
• Learn and adhere to company quality standards and procedures.
