In this role, you'll perform maintenance, welding, and troubleshooting tasks on press and assembly tools. Job description

Tooling Technician I

The BRP Marine Propulsion Systems facility in Spruce Pine, North Carolina is a full-service lost foam plant which uses innovative processes to create aluminum castings from polystyrene bead. We have a great workforce with employees who care for each other and the work that is done at our facility.

YOU'LL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:

  • Perform general maintenance and preventative maintenance on press tools and assembly tools and their components

  • TIG and MIG weld and hand work parts of tools and fixtures

  • Build machining fixtures as needed

  • Maintain accurate documentation

  • Establish and maintain communication with other team members and support departments

  • Troubleshoot tooling (in or out of the press)

  • Work to blueprints, sketches, and verbal instruction

  • Efficiently perform lock-out/tag-out procedure

  • Monitor and maintain 5-S

  • Use time effectively to complete as much work as possible within the shift

  • Promote and model safe behavior throughout the facility

  • Promote and model BRP values

YOU'LL THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Three years maintenance or related experience, or combination of education and experience

  • Working knowledge of mills, lathes, and surface grinders

  • Familiarity with Computer Numerical Control (CNC) software and machinery

  • Ability to read engineering drawings and models

  • Ability to use precision tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers) to take accurate measurements

  • The ability to work safely and alone in a machine shop environment

  • Mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical & electronic troubleshooting skills

  • Ability to safely work with all equipment

  • Good communication skills

  • The ability to work independently and with little guidance

  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills

  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule

  • Good attendance record

Preferred:

  • Associate's degree in a related technical field

  • Industrial mill or lathe experience
