Job summary

Jabil is seeking a Tooling Technician in the Hanover Park, IL area to perform preventive maintenance, repair, and testing of injection molds used in production. You will manage mold inventories, document repair outcomes, and ensure tool readiness to minimize downtime.

The role requires hands-on experience with plastic injection molds, knowledge of mold shop equipment, and a collaborative, safety-conscious approach within a busy manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on Injection Molds according to procedure and report the status of the molds to the supervisor.
  • Operate machining tools and equipment for preventive and/or corrective maintenance of the molds.
  • Perform repairs and tests on Injection Molds.
  • Perform inventory of molding tools and parts and report the status to supervisor.
  • Store and maintain validated components.
  • Store non-validated components.
  • Maintain stock inventories by ensuring the proper levels of component parts are available at all times for tooling repair.
  • Improve the efficiency and accuracy of molded products by documenting reasons for mold repairs and solutions to prevent future manufacturing interruptions.
  • Follow all procedures and training.
  • Maintain excellent attendance.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Advise supervisor of any recurring production failures so that prompt corrective action may be taken.
  • Escalate recurring issues through the proper chain of command.
  • Maintain logs of all molds that have undergone preventative maintenance, as well as controlling each of the molds.
  • Maintain machine cleanliness standards.
  • Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations.
  • Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy.

SUMMARY

The Tooling Technician is responsible for the repair and “return-to-operation” of injection molding tools that are actively engaged in producing quality products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

COMPENSATION

The hourly pay range for this role is $20.77 – $37.36. Job‑related, non‑discriminatory factors used to determine the actual offered rate include qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and consideration of internal equity.
