Job summary

Sub-Zero, Wolf, and Cove seeks a Tooling / Stamping Engineer to build our metal forming capability in Cedar Rapids. This role provides hands-on technical leadership for press-formed parts, tooling design, and equipment implementation, guiding projects from concept through production.

You will partner with design, quality, and supply chain to drive continuous improvement, tooling reliability, and on-time launches in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field required.
• Five or more years in metal forming, stamping tooling, die design, or manufacturing process engineering.
• Experience with press-formed sheet metal components and tooling specifications.
• Hands-on experience managing tooling projects from concept to production.
• Knowledge of process monitoring, root-cause analysis, and corrective action.
• Ability to review part and tooling designs on the production floor.
• Experience with hydraulic or mechanical presses and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for metal forming processes, tooling, presses, automation, and related equipment during start-up.
• Review designs for design-for-manufacturing input for press-formed parts.
• Develop tooling concepts, specs, and RFQ packages; partner with external tooling suppliers.
• Lead tooling procurement, installation, qualification, and launch of dies and press cells.
• Plan and manage multiple tooling projects; communicate priorities and risks across teams.
• Develop process documentation, control plans, and maintenance requirements.
• Support material selection in partnership with design engineering and supply chain.
• Serve as hands-on resource for stamping defects, tooling issues, and process improvements.
• Coach production and technical staff; maintain change-control documentation.
