Job summary

Atlas Copco Holding GmbH is seeking a Tooling Specialist to ensure tooling, workholding, and consumables are available for production. You will manage inventory, prepare tooling, and support continuous improvement of tooling systems on-site in the U.S. manufacturing environment.

The role requires at least 3 years in a machine shop, with strong mechanical aptitude and experience with tooling, workholding, and inventory control. Office and ERP system proficiency are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage tooling, workholding, inserts, and consumables to ensure production readiness.
  • Review production schedules and tool lists to anticipate requirements and prevent shortages.
  • Stage, assemble, inspect, and prepare tooling and workholding for machining.
  • Maintain tooling records and support the tool management database.
  • Organize tooling storage areas using 5S and visual management principles.
  • Order and replenish tooling, fixtures, and consumables based on demand and usage trends.
  • Distribute tooling to machinists and operators to support production flow.
  • Monitor tooling usage and inventory levels to improve asset utilization.
  • Provide general machine shop support including tooling maintenance and data entry.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and operations on continuous improvement.

Job description

As a Tooling Specialist, your mission is to keep manufacturing operations running smoothly by ensuring the right tooling, workholding, and consumable resources are available when needed. This position supports production readiness through inventory management, tooling preparation, organization, and continuous improvement of tooling systems and processes. You will report to the Machine Shop Manager.

You will

  • Manage tooling, workholding, insert, and consumable inventoryto ensure production readiness.
  • Review production schedules, setup sheets, and tool lists to anticipate tooling requirements and prevent shortages,

You have at least 3 years of experience, working in a machine shop, manufacturing, or related industrial environment.

  • You have a strong mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of tooling, workholding, shop equipment, and safe material handling practices.
  • You have experience safely lifting, moving, and handling tooling, fixtures, workholding devices, and other production materials.
  • You are proficient with computer systems used for inventory management, record keeping, and communication, including MS Office applications, ERP systems, and tool management software.
  • Preferred:
    • Prior manufacturing or shop floor experience including familiarity with tooling, workholding, tool crib operations, inventory control, 5S, or lean manufacturing principles.
