Job Summary

Responsible for design assembly processes for products. Perform research and implement new technologies necessary to tackle complex assembly and automation problems that have direct impact on quality and production of products. Ensure production's stability and efficiency.

Job Functions
  • Responsible for design, verification, and installation of tooling and fixtures based on project progress, timeline and budget; ensure newly-developed tooling associated with specific project to be effective.
  • Responsible for all tooling/fixture related work instruction drafting, revision, update and record keeping.
  • Provide direction and mentorship to third‑party machine/automation suppliers and/or contract manufacturers; serve as technical leader on owned projects and a technical resource to other engineering groups and project leaders.
  • Organize cross‑functional reviews of machine requirements, design, qualification and capability.
  • Travel to machine suppliers and contract manufacturers for equipment bring‑up, qualification, acceptance testing and support during build events.
  • Research and develop new automated cells based on current manufacturing process standards to improve production efficiency, reduce quality issues and minimize cost.
  • Coordinate planning, installation and integration of new automated cells between third‑party suppliers and internal installation/integration teams.
  • Design and develop technically complex processes to improve quality and efficiency; utilize statistical tools such as GR&R, SPC and Cp/Cpk to ensure processes/fixtures are scalable and continue to perform properly after qualification.
  • Provide early and ongoing manufacturing involvement to ensure new products are designed for mechanical manufacturability with existing or new equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Physical Requirements
  • Languages: English; bilingual such as Mandarin is a plus.
  • Ability to read, understand and comply with documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
  • Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Effective communication with team members, engineers, leaders and customers.
  • 1 to 3 years manufacturing experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or above in machine design, manufacturing, automation or equivalent.
  • Healthy. Able to travel and work in a manufacturing environment; regularly required to stand for long periods, turn, reach, bend, squat, and lift up to 50 pounds; must pass static strength requirements (grip).
  • Visual acuity: near, far, depth perception, color vision, field of vision; safety requirements include safety glasses, hearing protection and steel‑toed work boots.
  • Mathematical skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
  • Reasoning ability: solve practical problems and handle multiple variables.
  • Computer skills: knowledge of programming; proficient with CAD software (UG, Catia or SolidWorks) and 3D modeling; proficient with tooling/fixtures installation, troubleshooting; proficient with robot cell design and programming; proficient with PLC and vision programming.
  • Familiar with office software, basic network operations and e‑mail.
  • Familiar with manufacturing technology, especially underlying assembly process, tempered and laminated glass manufacturing, major quality and environmental systems.
  • Ability to communicate with other departments on technical issues related to tooling/fixtures; guide workshop technicians, operational staff and new employee training.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills; analysis and judgment capability; adaptability to changes.
  • Receive training on company profile, basic product processing, company rules and regulations, department and post workflow.
