Job summary

Engtal in the Dayton area is seeking a Tooling Engineer to join its growing engineering team. The role focuses on design and modification of precision tooling used in custom industrial equipment, with emphasis on improving existing designs rather than starting from scratch.

You will use SolidWorks to create 3D models, detailed drawings, and BOMs, applying tolerances and GD&T. The ideal candidate has 3–7+ years of mechanical/tooling design experience and a degree in ME or related field.

Qualifications

• 3–7+ years of mechanical/tooling design experience or related field.
• SolidWorks expertise with machining and tooling familiarity.
• Understanding tolerances and precision component design.
• Attention to detail to deliver manufacturing-ready designs.
• Experience with machined parts and mechanical assemblies.
• Ability to improve existing designs from established standards.
• ME/ME Tech degree or equivalent hands-on design experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and modify tooling and mechanical components using SolidWorks.
• Adapt existing tooling designs for new customer-specific applications.
• Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings.
• Apply dimensions, tolerances, and GD&T to engineering drawings.
• Design components with manufacturability, fit, function, and cost in mind.
• Work with machined parts and precision mechanical components.
• Create and maintain engineering documentation and BOMs.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and project teams.
• Troubleshoot and improve existing tooling designs.
• Support development of new tooling generations.
• Manage multiple design projects to meet timelines and requirements.
