Job summary

PennEngineering is seeking a Toolroom Engineer to join our Danboro, PA team. You will support toolroom operations, optimizing CNC programs, tooling, and processes across grinding, EDM, milling, turning, and coating operations.

The role drives equipment modernization, tool life improvement, and automation initiatives, with hands-on CNC programming and process expertise. Join us to build the future in Manufacturing and Engineering at PennEngineering.

Qualifications

3–5 years of hands-on toolroom CNC machining.
Associate's Degree in a relevant discipline.
Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing/Mechanical/Industrial Eng is a plus.
Proficient with Mastercam programming software.
Experience with Mazak Mazatrol, conversational programming, and G-code.
Hands-on with wire and RAM EDM, CNC milling, grinding, turning, polishing.
Knowledge of heat treatment and PVD coating.
Experience with metal 3D printing / additive manufacturing preferred.
Proven track record of cost savings and equipment modernization.

Responsibilities

Lead process optimization of CNC programs and processes using Mastercam, Mazak Control, conversational programming, and G-code.
Support toolroom operations across CNC grinding, wire EDM, RAM EDM, 5-axis CNC, milling, and lathes.
Perform tool life analysis and failure mode studies to identify root causes and drive corrective action.
Lead projects to improve cycle time, quality, and tool life.
Identify and execute equipment modernization and capital improvement projects.
Develop and implement cost savings across toolroom processes.
Design and implement lights-out/unattended automation to increase capacity.
Apply metal 3D printing to tooling and fixture development where applicable.
Design, build, and troubleshoot fixturing to support tooling and manufacturing.
Collaborate with operators, engineering, tool makers, and quality to resolve tooling issues.
Document processes, programs, and machine settings; follow SOPs and safety.
Participate in 5S and continuous improvement activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
