Job summary

MOHR Talent is seeking a hands-on Tooling Engineer / CNC Process Engineer to work directly on the shop floor supporting Swiss CNC machining operations. The role is not desk-heavy and focuses on developing tooling strategies, improving processes, troubleshooting difficult jobs, and collaborating with machinists to optimize production.

You will work with Swiss equipment (Citizen/Star/Tornos or similar) and be involved in tooling, setups, troubleshooting, and process development, including GD&T

Qualifications

• Swiss CNC machining experience on the shop floor.
• Hands-on tooling setups, troubleshooting, and process development.
• Ability to read complex blueprints and GD&T.
• Experience programming or editing CNC programs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize tooling strategies for Swiss CNC machining.
• Select cutting tools, inserts, holders, speeds, and feeds.
• Work hands-on at the machine during setup, prove-out, and troubleshooting.
• Improve cycle times, tool life, quality, and process capability.
• Troubleshoot chatter, finish, tolerance, tooling, and machining issues.
• Support new-job launches and process development.
• Train and support machinists and operators on the shop floor.
• Drive continuous improvement throughout the machining process.

We’re partnering with a growing precision machining manufacturer seeking a hands-on Tooling Engineer / CNC Process Engineer to work directly on the shop floor supporting Swiss CNC machining operations.

This is not a desk-heavy engineering position. We’re looking for someone who enjoys being at the machine, developing tooling strategies, improving processes, troubleshooting difficult jobs, and working alongside machinists and operators to make production run better.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and optimize tooling strategies for Swiss CNC machining
• Select cutting tools, inserts, holders, speeds, and feeds
• Work hands-on at the machine during setup, prove-out, and troubleshooting
• Improve cycle times, tool life, quality, and overall process capability
• Troubleshoot chatter, finish, tolerance, tooling, and machining issues
• Support new-job launches and process development
• Read complex blueprints and GD&T
• Make programming and process adjustments as needed
• Train and support machinists and operators on the shop floor
• Drive continuous improvement throughout the machining process

What We’re Looking For

• Strong background in Swiss CNC machining
• Hands-on experience with tooling, setups, troubleshooting, and process development
• Experience programming or editing CNC programs
• Knowledge of Citizen, Star, Tsugami, Tornos, or similar Swiss equipment
• Strong understanding of tooling, speeds/feeds, GD&T, and tight-tolerance machining
• Esprit experience is a plus
• Aerospace, medical, or other high-precision manufacturing experience is a plus
• Someone who would rather be on the floor solving machining problems than sitting behind a desk all day
