Job summary

The Judge Group is seeking an experienced engineer for an equipment development role in Portland, Oregon. You will evaluate requirements, develop complex equipment concepts, and design solutions for production systems, while ensuring safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include developing bid specifications, working with suppliers, troubleshooting production issues, and maintaining hardware configurations and documentation.

Qualifications

• BS degree in engineering or related field.
• At least 2 years of engineering related work experience.
• ABET accreditation preferred in the USA (not required).

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement workarounds and maintain hardware and documentation configurations.
• Perform studies and make recommendations for disposition of assets.

Job description

• This is an equipment development, implementation, and improvement role. Your duties will include (but are not limited to):
• Evaluate program and project requirements, develop complex equipment concepts and design solutions for the Production System.
• Compile and analyze technical data to determine the effects on product engineering design, usability, and rate estimates.
• Ensure compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and release bid and purchase specifications for equipment needs from suppliers.
• Troubleshoot current production issues related to quality, safety, and repeatability.
• Develop and implement workarounds and maintain configuration of hardware and documentation.
• Perform studies and make recommendations for disposition of assets.

Required Skills

• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
• 2 or more years’ related engineering work experience

Preferred Skills

• 3 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• 2 or more years of project management experience supporting complex technical projects, evaluating/selecting equipment solutions, and assessing spare parts inventory in a production environment
• 1 or more years of experience working with hardware, software, and documentation configuration management
• 1 or more years of experience working to industry standards including compliance with hardware and safety codes
• Knowledge of various manufacturing techniques
• Ability to learn in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills and an ability to collaborate across teams

Education / Experience

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
