Job summary

Hunter Recruiting seeks a Tooling Lead responsible for ownership of all interior and exterior compression molding tooling at the mill in Hattiesburg, MS. You will manage tooling inventory, participate in design, sourcing input, and continuous improvement to cut defects and costs.

Qualifications include a mechanical engineering degree and 10+ years tooling experience, or 20+ years in tooling design. AutoCAD drawings will be created and maintained as part of production support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in mechanical engineering or related field with extensive tooling experience.
• Alternate: 20+ years in tooling design as an equivalent qualification.

Responsibilities

• Own interior and exterior compression molding tooling inventory and lifecycle.
• Design new tooling and modifications to existing tooling.
• Source tooling machining, chrome plating, coating, etc.
• Optimize use of tooling in production and reduce defects.
• Lead continuous improvement projects to lower costs.
• Determine tooling replacement needs and new tooling for demand.
• Develop QA checks for purchased tooling.
• Set process parameters to optimize flash and tooling performance.
• Create and update AutoCAD drawings.

Job description

The Tooling Lead will be responsible for ownership of all interior and exterior compression molding tooling within the mill. This will consist of managing the entire tooling inventory, responsibility for design, input on sourcing, continuous improvement efforts, technical troubleshooting, and qualification of new tooling in production.

• Design of new tooling and design modifications to existing tooling
• Locate and select sourcing for tooling machining, chrome plating, coating, etc.
• Offers input on how to optimize use of existing tooling in production
• Identifies and leads continuous improvement project opportunities to lower cost or reduce defects
• Determines which tools are in need of replacement and which products require new tooling to support demand
• Develops and ensures compliance with QA checks of purchased tooling
• Helps establish process parameters that optimize flash and other tooling performance metrics
• Create and update drawings in AutoCAD.

Tooling Lead Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or other applicable engineering discipline and 10+ years of tooling-related experience
