Our Client, a leading manufacturer in Central Connecticut, is seeking a talented Tooling Engineer with a strong background in mold design and molding processes. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on designing, developing, and maintaining molds used in high-quality, efficient production environments. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize molds for injection molding and other manufacturing processes.
• Ensure all mold designs prioritize durability, ease of use, and cost-effectiveness.
• Guarantee mold designs meet stringent product quality and dimensional requirements.
• Oversee the manufacturing and fabrication of molds, ensuring all quality standards are met.
• Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source materials and components for tooling.
• Manage mold production timelines and budgets.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all molds and tooling.
• Troubleshoot and repair molds as needed to minimize production downtime.
• Maintain and clean molds to extend their lifespan and functionality.
• Analyze mold test results, identify design flaws, and recommend improvements.
• Perform root cause analysis for mold-related production issues and implement corrective actions.
• Work closely with production teams to resolve molding or tooling issues during manufacturing.
• Communicate effectively with suppliers, vendors, and external contractors on mold design and production matters.
• Continuously seek opportunities to improve mold design and production processes for cost reduction and efficiency gains.
• Prepare detailed reports on mold performance, improvements, and issues encountered.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and environmental regulations.
  
  

Required Skills & Abilities

• Expertise in designing molds and tooling, particularly for injection molding processes.
• Strong proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
• Ability to develop and implement maintenance programs for molds to maximize lifespan and minimize production delays.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal abilities.
  
  

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in tool design, with a focus on mold design, development, and maintenance.
• At least 5 years' experience using 3D CAD software.
• Demonstrated experience with root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and implementing corrective actions based on test results.
  
  

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
• Ability to lift up to 15 pounds as needed.
• Capability to access and navigate all departments within the organization's facilities.
