Job summary

Pratt Industries, Inc. in Sandston, VA is seeking a Tooling Coordinator to oversee die coordination, tooling inspection, and machine setup.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of production software and tooling procedures.
  • Understanding of equipment design and production specifications.

Responsibilities

  • All die coordinators must be qualified to inspect and recognize tooling that needs repair, replacement or revision.
  • Machine scheduled walk through – verify all items planned are at the machines; pull and inspect other tooling.
  • Pull a printing plate backlog each shift and stage items that meet requirements.
  • Pre/post inspection of cutting dies and tagging; assist in moving dies between shifts.
  • Notify supervisors and superintendent about tooling status and repairs; manage tooling POs.
  • Maintain monthly tooling spread sheets.
  • Check in incoming print plates and assign plate numbers.
  • Assign locations for print plates and update HRMS.

Position: Tooling Coordinator


Shift: 1st


Location: Sandston, VA


Job Type: Full Time, Hourly

Overview


  • Responsible for all activities associated with running the machine, including setup, operation, cleanup, and recommending improvements to operations.


Primary Responsibilities


  • All die coordinators must be qualified to inspect and recognize tooling that needs to be repaired, replaced or revised.

  • Machine scheduled walk through – verify all items that are planned are at the machines. All other tooling should be pulled, inspected and returned to proper locations.

  • Pull a printing plate backlog once a shift. All items must be inspected and staged if they meet requirements.

  • Pre/post inspection of cutting dies – pre-inspect and tag cutting dies once a shift. All shifts are required to pull and put away cutting dies as it is returned from the machines. If dies are too large or too heavy to handle alone, get someone to assist.

  • Let production supervisors know of dies or plates to be modified, repaired or replaced. Then notify Superintendent and Supervisors of the status of the tooling ‘In-House Repair’ or ‘Outside Repair.’ Responsible for all tooling PO's.

  • Maintain monthly tooling spread sheets.

  • Check in all incoming print plates.

  • Assign print plate & cutting die #'s from the Print or Cutting Die Log Book.

  • Assign location to all print plates and enter it into HRMS. All supporting documentation will be attached and delivered to die room.

  • Responsible for all out going tooling. Order tooling and supplies when needed.

  • Help scan print cards and cads in system, if applicable.

  • Get quotes for tooling when needed.

  • Responsible for all tooling bill of ladings that are sent out.

  • Additional duties may be assigned by management.


Qualifications


  • Must be able to learn and assist in mechanical set up.

  • Must be able to help troubleshoot problems and assist in necessary repairs.

  • Must have a working knowledge of the following:

    • Current production software

    • Equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation

    • Product layouts and production specifications

    • Quality standards

Educational & Experience Requirements


  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Candidates are PREFERRED who offer the following:

    • Prior work experience in the corrugated industry.

    • 6 months experience in the Press or Finishing Department.




Physical Demands


  • The employee is regularly required to walk and talk and hear.

  • The employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

  • The employee is occasionally required to sit.

  • Vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • Work space is not climate controlled and can reach both hot and cold extremes (30 degrees – 110 degrees Fahrenheit).
