Job summary

Global CNC Industries is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop new toolholder designs, update existing products, and streamline engineering operations for precision CNC lathe toolholders. You will work on VDI, BMT, PSC/Capto, and driven/live tooling systems, ensuring manufacturability and robust performance.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, strong CAD (Inventor) and GD&T skills, and experience with gear/transmission design.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Proven experience in mechanical design, preferably CNC tooling or precision manufacturing.
  • Experience with gear and transmission design, including torque/speed calculations.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor preferred) and strong GD&T knowledge.
  • Familiarity with ERP/PLM systems for BOM and drawing management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new toolholders and tooling systems from concept through production (VDI, BMT, PSC/Capto, driven/live).
  • Update legacy designs to improve performance, reduce cost, and standardize across families.
  • Apply gear and transmission design to tooling systems for optimal torque transmission and durability.
  • Design for manufacturability with CNC machining, assembly, and repeatable quality on the shop floor.
  • Perform tolerance stack‑up analysis, GD&T, and fit calculations for interchangeability.
  • Prototype, test, and coordinate first article inspection before release to production.
  • Maintain BOMs, drawings, and engineering changes in ERP/PLM systems.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, production, and vendors to translate designs into production.
