Job summary

MillerKnoll is seeking an Inventory/Materials Handler to support production by receiving, stocking, and issuing parts and supplies. The role emphasizes inventory accuracy, 5S organization, and preparedness for emergency work orders.

Responsibilities

  • Receive stock and locate items in proper locations to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Initiate emergency work orders and document withdrawals/returns.
  • Maintain organized stockroom following 5S principles (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
  • Prepare items for local pick-up/delivery and process requisitions.
  • Perform cycle counts and run reorder reports to maintain stock levels.
  • Support production by issuing inventory and supplies as needed.

GENERAL PURPOSE

Provide internal customer support by receiving, storing, maintaining necessary inventory levels and issuing manufacturing supplies and machine parts to support production needs. Serve as a dispatching center for emergency work orders. Maintains records of withdrawals and returns of inventory items.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Complete item receiving transaction and stock items in proper location to ensure inventory accuracy and payment to vendors.
  • Initiate and document information for emergency work orders during shift.
  • Issue inventory items to customers and complete the inventory transaction.
  • Locate, expedite and requisition parts as required.
  • Maintain an organized and orderly work area and stock room following the 5S Philosophy for a Lean Manufacturing environment:
  • Sort, Straighten (Set in Order), Shine, Standardize (Systemise), and Sustain.
  • May be requested to make local pick-up and delivery.
  • Perform cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Run the automatic reorder report and process requisitions.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

Education/Experience:

One of the following is required: (1) High school diploma or its equivalent (GED for example), (2) work experience which demonstrates performance competency

Licenses and Certifications

HMI hi-lo and Aerial Work Platform (A.W.P.) license.

Current State of Michigan driver\'s license.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Proficient in Maximo software program.
  • Awareness and ability to identify commonly used tools in the manufacturing environment.

  • General mechanical aptitude to understand how pieces or parts may interact with other parts or equipment.
  • Must be physically able to stock inventory in stockroom environment.
  • Must have knowledge of good inventory control practices.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills; demonstrated sense of urgency.
  • Ability to effectively use office automation/communication software / tools used in the HM office environment.
  • Must be able to perform all essential job functions with/without accommodation.
