Job summary

Leupold & Stevens, Inc. in Beaverton, Oregon is seeking a Tool Room Machinist 2 on the swing shift (2:30 PM to 11:00 PM). You will build, repair, and maintain tooling and fixtures to support production and new product introduction while contributing to in-house design input.

Ideal candidates have GD&T, print reading, and CNC programming experience with two years in tool room/manufacturing or two years of trade school training plus related experience.

Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Two years trade school training in machining technologies plus two years related tool room or manufacturing experience.
  • Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing and print reading required.
  • Previous CNC programming experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and operates manual machines, such as lathes, milling machines or grinders, to machine simple to moderately complex parts to specifications.
  • Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to layout stock for machining. Assists Tool & Die Maker with computing dimensions and planning layout and assembly operation.
  • Positions and secures parts in a holding device. Uses hand-tools to fit and assemble parts to assemblies or mechanisms.
  • Verifies conformance of finished work to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
  • Provides assistance to the Tool Grinders and Tool and Die Makers as needed.
  • Provides required work tools and measurement devices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

And we are looking to add to this team by hiring another skilled and experienced Tool Room Machinist 2.

What You'll Be Doing as a Tool Room Machinist 2 (Swing Shift)

Builds, repairs, assembles and maintains parts and tools. Fabricates, repairs and assembles tooling, mechanisms, or machines in support of production and new product introduction. Assists Tool & Die Maker.

Skills and Experiences You'll Need as a Tool Room Machinist 2 (Swing Shift)
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Two years trade school training in machining technologies plus two years related tool room or manufacturing experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Previous experience with Geometric Dimension & Tolerancing and print reading required.
  • Previous CNC programming experience required.
Work Environment for a Tool Room Machinist 2 (Swing Shift)

Work takes place in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise and chemicals. Ability to use PPE. Ability to stand or sit for long periods; Good manual dexterity, fine motor skills, visual acuity, and ability to use full range of motion. Ability to reach, stoop, kneel, crawl, or crouch. Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. Capable of operating light tools and basic machinery.
