Job summary

Dauch Corporation seeks a Tool Room Machinist in Fort Wayne, IN to set up and operate manual and CNC tooling, fixtures, dies and gauges to meet tight tolerances. The role supports production by ensuring tooling accuracy, quality, and minimal downtime.

You will interpret blueprints and GD&T, troubleshoot machining issues, and participate in tooling design modifications while maintaining safe, organized workspaces in a fast-paced shop.

Qualifications

• 3–7+ years in tool room or precision machining environment.
• Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge.
• Experience with tight tolerance machining.
• Proficient in manual machining (critical in tool room environment).
• CNC setup experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual machines (lathe, mill, surface grinder, drill press, hole burner, etc.).
• Set up CNC mills and/or lathes (prove out programs, set offsets, adjust tooling).
• Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and engineering drawings.
• Manufacture and repair fixtures, dies, jigs, and special tooling.
• Hold tight tolerances (±.0005" or as required).
• Troubleshoot machining issues and recommend process improvements.
• Assist with tooling design modifications.
• Maintain tool room organization and equipment.
• Follow all safety procedures and company standards.
