Job summary

Precision Castparts is seeking an Engineer Technician I to support the Engineering Tooling team in meeting delivery timelines and improving product quality. You will work with Product Engineers, Tooling Engineers, Wax Operations, and production staff to coordinate tooling projects and assist manufacturing operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical education or coursework in engineering, manufacturing, machining, tooling, or a related field preferred.
• Previous manufacturing experience is preferred.
• General knowledge of mechanical systems and manufacturing processes; familiarity with injection processes and tooling is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support and coordinate Tool Room projects as needed.
• Work with wax injection operators to identify and improve tooling functionality.
• Perform hands-on operation and evaluation of wax injection tooling to support product quality improvements.
• Support customer property audits and related documentation requirements.
• Maintain and coordinate off-site tooling inventory.
• Coordinate fixturing projects for the post-cast finishing department.
• Gather and interpret operator feedback and communicate tooling or process concerns to the appropriate engineer.
• Work with supervisors and department leads to identify and communicate risks to project and production schedules.
• Track tooling and engineering projects throughout the manufacturing process and provide status updates as needed.
• Support the creation, revision, and continuous improvement of work instructions and procedures.
• Optimize work instructions to improve tooling functionality, consistency, and repeatability based on operator feedback and process observations.
• Verify that engineering changes are properly communicated and implemented.
• Coordinate with engineers and outside vendors on the design, development, and build of gauges, fixtures, and tooling.
• Review drawings and models for accuracy, completeness, and technical content.
• Identify opportunities for long-term tooling, product, and process improvements and provide recommendations to the appropriate engineer.
• Develop and communicate practical solutions to tooling, product, and manufacturing process issues.
• Support troubleshooting and problem-solving activities related to tooling and manufacturing processes.
• Maintain clear communication and documentation related to assigned projects, tooling activities, and open issues.

Education And Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical education or coursework in engineering, manufacturing, machining, tooling, or a related field preferred.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• General knowledge of mechanical systems and manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with injection processes and tooling preferred.
• Experience supporting tooling, engineering, production, or manufacturing projects preferred.
• Experience with technical documentation, project tracking, or manufacturing data reporting is a plus.
