Job summary

Delta Air Lines is seeking a Tool Room Attendant to maintain aircraft tooling in Central Tooling and Tool Rooms, supporting on-time departures with thorough inspection, cleaning, calibration and testing of tooling.

The role requires operating in a safe environment, performing disassembly, repair and assembly, and coordinating with AMTs to meet tooling needs. A valid driver’s license, 18+ years of age, and US work authorization are required.

Qualifications

• Must read and write English and understand technical manuals.
• Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems as they apply to aircraft.
• Must pass mechanical aptitude test to perform essential job functions.
• Must meet physical requirements including lifting at least 70 pounds.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 18 and authorized to work in the United States.
• Safety and security of self and data emphasized.
• Willingness to work rotating or fixed shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

How You'll Help Us Keep Climbing (Overview & Key Responsibilities)

Summary

The Tool Room Attendant is responsible for maintaining the equipment and tooling located in Central Tooling and in the Tool Rooms. The major responsibilities include but are not limited to the disassembly, cleaning, repair, assembly, inspection, calibration and testing of aircraft tooling to help assure safe, on-time departures of Delta’s aircraft. The Tool Room Attendant is responsible for a clean, organized, and safe work environment. This position requires the Tool Room Attendant to be thorough in their work and to provide the highest level of quality. This position also requires outside work. Summary of responsibilities (not comprehensive of all tasks):

• Handles tool servicing, cutting and repairs, shipping tools, periodically checking, replacing or repairing various items, and tool inventory management.
• Interacts with AMTs to assist in tooling needs and uses their knowledge to match tooling requirements with maintenance being performed on the aircraft.
• Responsible for the movement and support of tooling to support both the Delta operation and our MRO operation.
• Practices safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.

What You Need To Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)

• Must be able to read and write English and be able to comprehend and apply information contained in technical manuals.
• Must possess basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic disciplines as they apply to aircraft systems.
• Must achieve a satisfactory score on the mechanical aptitude test, which is structured to determine the ability to perform essential job functions.
• Must meet the physical requirements which qualify a person to perform essential job functions, including the ability to lift at least 70 pounds.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
• Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
• Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.

• Must be willing to work rotating or fixed shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• (If transferring internally) Must be performing satisfactorily in present position.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

• Prefer to have at least six months of mechanical experience or technical training/schooling; preferred areas of study may include but are not limited to: automotive, sheet metal and electrical/electronics.
• Prefer experience in reading and interpreting technical documents such as AAs, SBs, AMMs, CMs, EMs and wiring diagrams.
