Schatz Bearing Corporation in Poughkeepsie, NY is seeking an Experienced Tool Room Technician to perform tool and die making and repair for bearing manufacture. You will read blueprints, reverse engineer tooling, and operate mills, lathes, and precision grinding equipment to maintain tooling accuracy.

Qualifications include 5+ years in a tool room, knowledge of heat treating, soldering, brazing, and a solid understanding of materials such as O1, 52100, 4140, and D2.

Qualifications

  • Reads blueprint and job order for product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, heat treating, etc.
  • Able to reverse engineer tooling from final product.
  • Minimum five of years’ experience in Tool Room environment.
  • Full knowledge and understanding of manual Mills, Lathes, precision grinding and finishing equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience in heat treating, soldering and brazing.
  • Knowledge of various material cutting, grinding, and heat treating characteristics (O1, W1, M50, 52100, 4140, D2, carbide).
  • Skilled in blueprint drafting.
  • Knowledge of mechanical properties and limitations of stated materials.
  • Knowledge of mechanics of moving parts in working tools and dies.
  • Excellent shop math skills a priority.
  • Knowledge of 5S, Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma principles.
