Job summary

Edgewell Personal Care seeks a skilled Machinist to setup, program, and operate conventional and CNC machines. You will work to tight tolerances, read blueprints, and install machined parts in assemblies.

The role requires strong measurement skills and experience with mills, lathes, and surface grinders. You will collaborate with engineers and production teams to ensure equipment is calibrated and running smoothly, with growth opportunities within Edgewell’s manufacturing network.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must have a minimum of four (4) years’ experience as a machinist.

Responsibilities

• Sets up, programs and operates CNC/Conventional machines to close tolerances.
• Reads blueprints and specifications to determine dimensions and setup.
• Installs replacements parts and tests machine operation for proper performance.
• Dismantles and rebuilds machines to proper working order.
• Interprets instruments and gauges to ensure accuracy.
• Works with engineers and production staff to resolve machining issues.
• Assists in blade forming, welding, grinding, heat treat and finishing as needed.
• Performs grinding and dressing of wheels; prepares workpieces to spec.
• Maintains safe work practices and adheres to quality standards.

Please note that this full-time position is project-based and is not expected to continue beyond December 2027, due to the planned relocation of the plant. Eligible new hires in good standing who successfully complete required training and demonstrate proficiency may qualify for incentive bonuses, contingent upon active employment at the time of position elimination.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Sets up and operates and programs the following, (conventional, special purpose, NC machines, CNC machining centers, CNC grinders, CNC lathe, Tykem laser, and wire EDM) working to close tolerance to fabricate, overhaul, rebuild or repair replacement parts, fixtures or devices. Dismantle and rebuild machines or equipment to proper working order.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Procedures:

1. Works to close tolerance (± .00005) to fit parts for press fits, running fits and sliding fits.
2. Able to program using mastercam, and or opticam software
3. Reads and/or studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work-piece, sequence of operations and setup requirements.
4. Makes or repairs parts for replacement in machines or fixtures.
5. Verifies conformance of finished work-piece to specifications. Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly and verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly.
6. Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, equipment and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.
7. Operates welding equipment to cut or weld parts.
8. Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to be fabricated.
9. Groove all types of grinding machine wheels and make wheel strops.
10. Assist in Blade Forming and Welding, Grinding, heat treat, and finishing as needed.
11. Dress Grind and Final hone wheels for grinding department
12. Grind breaker knives, breaker dies, rebuild wigglers, rebuild indexing wheels
13. Rebuild Spindles and dressers
14. Grind chill blocks and guides to specifications.
15. Sharpen carbide grinder station front plates and breaker dies.
16. Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
17. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required to Apply for this Position:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must have a minimum of four (4) years’ experience as a machinist.
• Must be able to correctly read and interpret instruments and gages.
• Demonstrated ability to work to close tolerances (+/- .0005)
• Demonstrated ability to use mills, lathes, surface grinders, layout and measuring equipment.
• Machinist, Welding, Cutting and Fabricating Knowledge
• Good interpersonal skills
• Computer skills in Excel, Outlook, Word
• Good Communication skills, both verbal and written.
