Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. in East Longmeadow, MA is seeking a skilled Tool Maker.

You will plan and lay out work, set up and operate a wide range of tool room machines, and perform duties to exact blueprint tolerances to support Focus Factory operations. We value at least 5 years in a tool room, tool and die repair experience, and the ability to read complex drawings with precision measuring instruments.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in tool room environment.
• Tool and Die repair experience.
• Requires reading and interpreting complicated drawings, specifications, tables and precision measuring instruments.
• Stamping/Progressive Die experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lay out work; set up and operate a normal range of Tool Room machines.
• Fixture and machine parts: castings, weldment components; post-machining for re-qualification of surfaces.
• Repair/rebuild/modify stamping dies or machine tool parts per engineering requests.
• Maintain equipment and work area; report malfunctions and follow safety rules.

What You’ll Do

As a Tool Maker, you’ll be part of our Stanley Black & Decker team located in East Longmeadow, MA. You’ll get to:

General Responsibilities:

Perform a wide range of skilled duties in order layout, construct, repair, modify and alter a wide variety of machine tools. Machine to standard Blueprint tolerances, support Tool Crib/Maintenance spare parts. Perform machining tasks for Focus Factory support. All with expected guidance from Tool Makers with 10+ years’ experience.

Duties:

• Plan and lay out work performing various bench and machine operations. Set up and operate a normal range of Tool Room machines to perform necessary operations on a wide variety of tool machine parts.
• Make necessary mathematical calculations. Fixture and Machine: castings, components for weldments, Post machining of weldments in order to re-qualify critical surfaces for final assembly. Develop skills in order to work with Engineering to design and develop, modify and improve tool and machine designs during construction.
• Repair/rebuild/modify Stamping Dies or Machine Tool Parts per engineering requests. Develop skills to Service all types of production machinery including troubleshooting to diagnose a problem, make adjustments, repair and/or replace worn or defective parts, make new parts as required, adjust and test operation.
• Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition. Detect and report any equipment malfunctions, unusual situations or other problems. Follow all safety rules, regulations and practices.

The Salary range for this position is $33.05 - $34.77
