Job summary

Millat Industries, a family-owned manufacturer in Dayton, OH, seeks a Tool Maker to plan, set up, and operate tool room equipment such as mills, lathes, and grinders. You’ll use sketches and blueprints to ensure safe, efficient production and verify part dimensions.

You’ll collaborate with design and manufacturing teams, troubleshoot tool issues, and select suitable materials for projects. Core hours around 6 AM–3:30 PM with potential overtime.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of Tool Room experience.
• Mill, Lathe, and Grinding experience (ProtoTrak experience preferred).
• Quality oriented.
• Has Computer knowledge and has own tools.
• Reliable with an excellent attendance record.
• Must stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor and be able to lift between 10 and 50 pounds frequently.

Responsibilities

• Use sketches, blueprints, specifications, and models to plan operations for the machining of tools and assemblies, ensuring safety and maximum efficiency.
• Programs, sets up, and operates tool room equipment including mills, lathes, and grinders
• Verify dimensions of finished parts to ensure they conform to specifications
• Utilize hand and machine tools to assemble parts of tools and to repair and modify gauges, and jigs
• Design fixtures to be used as work aids for efficient fabrication of products and parts
• Work collaboratively with other departments to assist in both product design and design for manufacturing
• Diagnose and troubleshoot problems and perform repairs on tools
• Interface with external and internal customers, handle supplier and customer concerns and work with team members to solve problems during the production process
• File and finish workpieces using the appropriate hand tools to ensure products are smooth and that they fit together properly
• Selects the proper metals and materials to be used based on properties, ensuring they meet project specifications

Schedule– Approximately 45 hours per week, core hours 6:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday–Friday. (Could be 50 – 55 hours on occasion)
